Originally from Pennsylvania, Guy M. Lerner, MD earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over his career, Dr. Lerner has served on the faculty at Emory University, Thomas Jefferson University and the University of Louisville where he achieved the level of Associate Professor. Dr. Lerner served our nation’s veterans for 8 years as the Director of Pain Management at the Louisville Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr. Lerner is a Diplomate (i.e., board certified) of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine/ Addiction Medicine. Louisville has been his home for the past 18 years.
Our nurse manager, Karen Lawson RN, a native of Louisville, graduated from Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing. She has over fifteen years experience in pain management, with special training in management of implanted medication infusion pumps, spinal cord stimulation and deep brain stimulation. During her career, she has also worked in the areas of case management, neurosurgery and pediatrics. She has been a speaker for several pediatric and neurosurgery symposiums, an injury prevention program presented to local high school students and co-founder of a pediatric brain tumor support group. Karen enjoys her free time with her husband, two children and five grandchildren.
Sharon Potts, native of Lexington, Kentucky moved to Louisville in 2002. Sharon has more than 14 years of management experience including 8 years of managing a medical office. She has an extensive knowledge of medical billing with certifications in medical coding. Prior to joining Specialists In Pain Care, Sharon ran the daily operations of the business office at a drug and alcohol facility in Louisville.
Izabella Sullivan is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville. She also completed a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2014 with Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. She is a board certified provider by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She has experience treating pain in a variety of settings throughout her nursing career. Before joining Specialists in Pain Care, Izabella worked in an immediate care setting. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
BethAnn started out at Jefferson Community & Technical College for her Associate Degree in Registered Nursing. She graduated with a scholarship from Jewish Hospital, and then went on for her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University. She graduated with honors, and then obtained her Master’s Degree (Adult/Gerontologist Degree in Nurse Practitioner) at the University of Louisville. At UofL, BethAnn also graduated with honors. BethAnn has over 6 years experience in ICU, and 2 years in Primary Care. When she is not working you can find her spending time with family on the farm with the horses, dogs, cats, and ducks! She is also dedicated to living a healthier Lifestyle, and helping others do the same.
Our Physician Liaison/Marketing Representative Nicole Pullen is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. Nicole has more than 7 years of marketing experience, with education in medical coding and transcription. Prior to joining Specialists In Pain Care, Nicole ran her own social media management firm. She has also been an adult education instructor at Bellarmine University, where she taught strategic marketing perspectives within social media. She has helped grow many local businesses, and looks forward to helping grow Specialists In Pain Care. Nicole is married and has three young boys. In her free time she volunteers with the Boy Scouts of America, and travels with her family.
