Guy M.Lerner, MD Louisville KY

Originally from Pennsylvania, Guy M. Lerner, MD earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vermont and a fellowship in pediatric anesthesia at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Over his career, Dr. Lerner has served on the faculty at Emory University, Thomas Jefferson University and the University of Louisville where he achieved the level of Associate Professor. Dr. Lerner served our nation’s veterans for 8 years as the Director of Pain Management at the Louisville Veterans Administration Medical Center. Dr. Lerner is a Diplomate (i.e., board certified) of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Pain Medicine and the American Board of Preventive Medicine/ Addiction Medicine. Louisville has been his home for the past 18 years.

Our nurse manager, Karen Lawson RN, a native of Louisville, graduated from Norton Memorial Infirmary School of Nursing. She has over fifteen years experience in pain management, with special training in management of implanted medication infusion pumps, spinal cord stimulation and deep brain stimulation. During her career, she has also worked in the areas of case management, neurosurgery and pediatrics. She has been a speaker for several pediatric and neurosurgery symposiums, an injury prevention program presented to local high school students and co-founder of a pediatric brain tumor support group. Karen enjoys her free time with her husband, two children and five grandchildren.

Sharon Potts, native of Lexington, Kentucky moved to Louisville in 2002. Sharon has more than 14 years of management experience including 8 years of managing a medical office. She has an extensive knowledge of medical billing with certifications in medical coding. Prior to joining Specialists In Pain Care, Sharon ran the daily operations of the business office at a drug and alcohol facility in Louisville.

Susan Steitz is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2011 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2014 from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has also been a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing. Susan worked in Immediate Care before joining Specialists in Pain Care. She lives in Louisville with her husband and seven children.

Izabella Sullivan is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated in 2009 with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville. She also completed a Masters Degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2014 with Family Nurse Practitioner specialty. She is a board certified provider by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.  She has experience treating pain in a variety of settings throughout her nursing career. Before joining Specialists in Pain Care, Izabella worked in an immediate care setting. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family.
