I Cannot Get My Medication at the Pharmacy

Your insurance company has denied your medication. You will need to obtain a PRIOR AUTHORIZATION (PA). You must obtain pre- approval from your insurance company before the medication is dispensed.

What can I do? You have 3 options!!

Pay out of pocket for the medication.                               

Do the PA yourself.  Contact your insurance company via the phone number on your insurance card.

Have Specialists in Pain Care do the PA for you.  You will need to come to the office for a “walk in” appointment, so we can obtain a waiver and thorough drug history.  This is a billable appointment to your insurance company.  To alert the office that you are having trouble getting your medication, please complete the GENERAL MAIL BOX form prior to your arrival.  This should help expedite the process.

How Long Does it Take for a PA to be Approved?

Once the paperwork is submitted to your insurance, it is usually processed within 48 hours, but it can take as long as 14 days.  There is no guarantee that your insurance will approve the medication.
